on the caravan route to Timbuktou
This is a watercolour but with a difference in that, like the Moroccan artists and my other Moroccan works, I have used saffron. I wanted to give depth and texture to the dune and anyone who has walked in the sub Saharan sands will know, the sand is not necessarily pure sand. In finishing the painting, I saw that I had managed to get a sort of 3D effect of the camels against the background sky.
