Beach.

As you know, Stephen, I greatly admire your work. I particularly like this painting. It has an uncluttered approach and yet achieves great depth. The simple manner in which you have applied the paint to depict the sails makes me think that I might view the painting as being in the impressionist style. Do you agree? And if you do, do you consciously set out to paint in the impressionist manner? Whatever the answers, I love the painting!!

Thanks Lionel,perhaps it is too impressionistic lol as the "sail" are figures....but yes this was painted for a contempory gallery that specialises in abstract/high impressionistic work. I find myself heading in that direction sometimes, but have to have a reality check ever so often to keep the other galleries happy.

Oh dear!! Yes, of course; when I enlarge the picture and look a bit more carefully I can see that they are figures. No doubt it is easier still if one saw the picture in real life. Sorry about that, Stephen. But I really do like the painting.
