Many thanks Carole! It's easy if you know how, or if you have a versatile teacher who's stuck at nothing! Basically, I created the grass using masking fluid, then as a final step, I used a brush with the darkest toned paint to skim at random over patches of grass so it gives the grass an unevenly- lighted appearance. I leave the top of the grass untouched at this last stage, thereby keeping the lightest part at the top.
