You made me laugh with your coronary Seok! Your teacher is a clever man, he made you to do something completely out of your comfort zone and the result is impressive. Your greens are very good as always and the trees and the leaves look just right. I think I can see some hesitation on the right hand side where you probably got tired or lost confidence but for the first painting of this kind it's fantastic!

How handy that Satu has so eloquently said what I was going to. It was the green and lush feel that drew me in.

That teacher of yours is a bit cruel Seok! But you have accepted the challenge and produced a fine picture. It is a looser style than your usual work but is good to experiment.

What pressure Seok! The result, however, is fantastic. Those greens are lovely and the whole painting shows the magnificence of those towering trees.

Nice composition Seok! At least you tried something new which resulted in another lovely painting! Glad it worked so well!

I like the sound of your teacher his advice seems bang on and so is your painting its very nice seems like the sun is bursting through the trees well done Seok.

I know exactly how you feel Seok, I'm attending life drawing classes with a teacher I've known for years so she knows I get bogged down in detail. She has banned me from using a pencil and has encouraged me to go straight in with a brush. I'm well out of my comfort zone! You've risen to the challenge well with this painting, a lovely mix of greens and in a much looser style.

I think this is very successful Seok. There is a lot of depth and a spontaneous freshness which is appealing.

Thanks so very much, everyone, for your kind encouragement!

Well done Seok. You have always said you can't get your greens right, but you have got them now! I have never painted a picture without using white, it's always the first colour I lay on my pallet.

Thanks very much Fred!

(At the Singapore Botanic Gardens). Had a lesson with my drawing teacher, Daniel Scott, today. He wanted me to try outdoor painting in acrylic, using bigger brushes and painting in bigger shapes. He also prohibited me from using white on anything but the sky and gave me 2 1/2 hours to finish the piece. I felt like I was about to have a coronary!
