I'd love this a great deal less if I'd been a Luftwaffe pilot, but I wasn't, so I admire everything about it, from the contrails, to the blue-grey of the sea, the marvellously detailed Heinkel to the boat... incidentally, as we approach Remembrance Day I think a nod of respect for the courage of all of those aircrew, British, Polish, and yes, German, is called for. Still living near to me - I think she's over 100 years old now - is a lady who lived through our country's bombing of Würzburg; General Jodl, in his Nuremberg war crimes trial, argued that the blanket bombing of Hamburg, Würzburg and Dresden were as horrible as his country's levelling of Warsaw.... it didn't get him anywhere; because, while true, it wasn't the Allied side that had unleashed a war of aggression, and deliberately chose to attempt the extermination of an entire race. That's an historical, moral, and political point, of course - but given the time of year I feel moved to make it. As a former member of the RAF, I think you'll understand it. The premier victims of war are always the innocent. Your painting is a very fine piece of work, and I hope you're as proud of it as you ought to be!

Amazing piece of artwork, well done 👍

You've done it again! a spectacular image.

Superb, what else can I say?

Back to my aviation work today. There are very many depictions of the Battle of Britain, mostly at altitude. I thought I would bring this one down to ground, or in this case sea level. A HE 11, port engine on fire is about to hit the water, the crew of the fishing boat have just realised how perilous their situation is hence the title. 16 x 12 inches on mdf
