Love this painting of Lola, Sarah. I started off painting animals in oils. Looking back now they were very basic. Not a bit like your animals. Sigh!

It's a constant learning curve Adele, when I look back over my work from the last 2 years you can see such a steady progression. Even work from as little as a year ago I now look at and cringe!

I agree, I think there is a drive away from traditional pet portraits. I am always asking my clients to photograph their pets in natural positions, even if that's sleeping however I still get the very posed photos. I think us artists work so much better when the subject is just themselves
