Well you may have got into trouble with the shadows, but I can't see that you did - and that's what matters. Paper makes a lot of difference doesn't it.....? I'm struggling with mine, can't wait till I've exhausted my supply so I can in good conscience buy a different brand. And more particularly, heavier weight. But again, even if the Khadi paper wasn't the best choice, you've overcome any problems it caused you.

Super composition with lovely washes. It's a scene very redolent of the African safari, and you've captured the atmosphere beautifully. Thank you very much, too, for your very kind comment on my painting.

I think the washes are great especially since the painting is on Khadi rough paper, lovely work.

Love this one too, in fact I think all your paintings are great - again the purple and yellow gives it a zing and I like the brush marks.

Super!

This is a watercolour painted from a photo taken by a friend called David, who is a good amateur photographer, who has kindly let me use his photos to paint from. It is of two Gemsbok sheltering from the heat under some trees. The colours I used were Cobalt and Ultramarine blues, Raw sienna, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Permanent Rose, and I might have used a bit of Winsor Violet. Some Permanent White Gouache was used in small areas, mixed with watercolour, where I got into trouble with the shadows on the backs of the antelopes. In some areas, the whites were preserved with masking fluid. The Paper again is a heavier Khadi watercolour paper Rough....maybe not the best choice of surface for a wildlife painting if you are into detail, but the painting is relatively loose.
