Looks a super spot Roland and you have created a lovely watercolour of it, the bridge really stands out and a good tonal range.

Absolutely stunning painting Roland watercolour of the highest order beautiful work

Great texture and atmosphere Roland nice use of scrach work, love the effects on the stonework of the bridge and the varying greens throughout the painting really give it body, smashing stuff.

Lovely painting, Roland, the water sparkles, and the brighter colours behind the middle arch really draw the eye in.

Very lovely painting, Roland, all subjects well done.

Absolutely love this Roland, my favourite so far of your postings. Is it a little looser than your normal style, or is it the palette...I don't know but it's exceptional!

A wonderful painting Roland, so beautiful and lively :)

Love the stone work and the rough water, Roland...slightly different to your usual style, but superb nevertheless!

That's a beauty Roland , good strong colour and superb sense of movement in the water

Another real cracker, Roland! I love the rough textures of the grass banks, the interesting colours in the jagged rocks and, abundance of light created from dark and light passages. The coping stones on the top of the bridge catching the light is perfect.
Being a member of The Pure Watercolour society I don't use white in my paintings and either leave the paper to shine through or scratch out with a scarpel on things like the coping stones and froth on the water. May I ask you how you achieve your white - for example, the water? Is that scratched out or is it body colour? Not a criticism at all, Roland - we never stop learning, do we.

Many thanks everyone, this is quite an old painting so maybe thats why the style is somewhat different.

Tony, pure watercolour! No body colour, a sharp blade and masking fluid was used in places and a few paint arounds to keep the white paper also.

The old stone bridge at Aghade, County Carlow, a back road that crosses the river Slaney. A great summer picnic hang out.
