Yes, the houses are very interesting but the washes too are so smoothly done. And the distant hills with touches of snow....all in all a lot to admire in this painting.

There aren't many paintings that make me hold my breath but this one did when I saw it. It's tremendous!

Lovely use of colour Roland, creamy sky sets off the large hill very well. Good variation of colour in the cliffs too. The rough old buildings make a nice contrast with the smooth washes, very nice work.<br />

Just beautiful Roland. Love the foreground washes and that touch of turqoise on the roof makes the whole thing zing!
