Your work is excellent Roland

This is a beautiful sensitive work.I like all your paintings

Another beauty Roland, lovely warm light in this one.

Thank you so much Russell, Jane, Michael and Stephen.

Wonderful watercolour with fine colours and lights.

Your paintings have a beautiful luminous quailty ,Roland. Superb!

Roland, you have the most wonderful watercolour style and the subjects you choose compliment it fully.

Fiona, many thanks for your very kind words.

I like the manner in which the castle appears crisp against the more muted backgrounds. Did you mask the castle when doing the wet into wet trees and mountains?

Superb! Absolutely superb, Roland!

Many thanks for the kind comments. Yes Philip, indeed the castle was masked out whilst the wetter passages were laid in, just needed to keep the edges clean. It helps also in that it allows me to run the mountain wash in a free manner and drop in some darks to create the hillside contours......... Many thanks Jennifer, delighted you like the painting.

Thank you Cesare, appreciate your comments and time to view my work.

Thank you Dennis.

Have just joined painters-online and have come across your work, Roland, I was drawn immediately to your rendering of Ross Castle by the wonderful and varied light and calm waters. Your trees are superb, just described sufficiently to keep them distant but still each conveying its own light. A truly great painting. Tony Taylor

This watercolour caps anything I have seen for ages - truly magnificent! The light is exceptional and the trees and reflections outstanding. It has the' WOW' factor for me in spades! Stunning! Are you using a Not surface, Roland?

Ross castle is a big tourist attraction for County Kerry, here I attempted to convey the soft evening light falling across the valley behind the castle and then pull focus to the castle with hard lines and detail. The reflections provide a softer balance whilst the foreground shadow help create a little more depth.
