It looks wonderful and for the record, I am always asking for advice and the smashing people on here, always point me in the right direction.

Wonderful range of tone & colour.

Sounds like it was good advice, Roger - those trees look just right in tone and colour. I've also found the constructive criticism on PoL very helpful as we sometimes don't notice our own "mistakes".

Thank you all for your comments. Exactly, Jan. I was pleased that I'd painted this more-or-less in one session. I hadn't noticed the trees coming too far forward. A few tweaks have made a considerable improvement.

Excellent painting with much to like about it .

Excellent painting.

A minor alteration has paid off Roger, it’s increased the depth and space of the middle ground beautifully. A cracking piece of work.

16" x 20" oil on canvas, painted from a plein-air pastel. A POL friend commented, earlier in the week, that the middle-distance trees were too strong in tone and warm colour. I've used a little grey and muted brownish colour to make them and the Scots pines on the skyline recede. Thank you for the constructive criticism. I'm happier with my own work now. Sometimes we need someone else to see it.
