Superb! Fabulous sky.....

Thanks Fiona! I really wanted to create a dramatic backdrop.

Wonderful sky and great reflection on the groung. Very well painted, Rob.

Every plane you draw you get the feeling its shooting through the air...i also am self taught, your paintings give me lots of inspiration..
I started in watercolours for 2 months, then moved onto acrylics..Is it possible to love both mediums, or get the feeling for a particular paint....
Cheers
peter

Hi Peter,
Thank you - I'm glad you get inspiration from my paintings! I know a lot of people who enjoy 2 or more media, so why not? For me, though, I'm settled with watercolour. I can't imagine ever feeling that I've done everything it can do - there seems a million things to tackle! So for now, watercolour's my paint of choice. Won't stop me using graphite, chalk and ink for other stuff though!

Thank you Cesare. I wasn't sure if the reflections would be a good idea, but when I sketched it out I thought I'd include them. I'm glad I did!

A smashing piece in both the technical aspect and the storm Ron.

Peter I like lots in here started in watercolour, the most difficult medium of all then garduated through to oils, but now I am limited to only acrylics. One or three mediums can work for you, all at once if you see what I mean, try them all
Superb skills and great artistry Rob and wonderful galleries

Thanks Derek, and I agree. Until you've tried lots you don't know what works for you. And mixing is fine too - my latest piece uses watercolour, pencil and gouache.

Thanks Dennis!

Love the granulation in the sky.

WOW - this is amazing. I don't know anything about airplanes, but, I paint in watercolor, and your sky and foreground are incredible. The granulating sky fits so well with the plane - it gives movement and energy....the water, reflections, light on the water - sparkle are all superb. !!

Thanks Philip - I wanted a dark, overpowering sky and I think the granulation helps to break up the solid mass.

Thanks Nancy! I came from landscape, so I always try to place my aircraft within some form of landscape environment - I enjoyed this dark sky (as a watercolourist you can imagine how dark this was when wet!) I hoped the reflections would allow me to add more movement (and at least take away the dullness of a tarmac foreground!)

Lovely watercolours, very good gallery.
