Shining painting Rob, great light effect.

Brilliant as ever.......pity no jets in sight...

Thank you Cesare and Peter! It was all about getting that lighting right... There'll be more aircraft coming Peter - I've completed two large commissions for RAF Squadron 100th birthdays but they're both to be kept under wraps until the Centenaries. First one's just a couple of weeks away!

Lovely work...

A lovely sunset Rob

Thank you Alan and David! This one would be controversial with the Pure Watercolour Society. I tried using body colour, adding both chinese white and Naples Yellow to the colours applied, above an initial wash of chinese white over the paper. This was apparently popular with artists such as Turner (I don't compare myself to his work, although he was the inspiration - I actually had a subject similar to the 'Blue Rigi' in mind when I decided to trial it!) and I thought I'd give it a try. I found that whilst it gives real brightness to the sun, it made the colours slower to mix wet in wet on the paper. It's produced some nice effects among the distant trees but it was definitely harder to get the sky and reflection colours to mix on the paper!

Findhorn Bay is a large tidal bay on the Moray Firth in Scotland. It's a haven for wildlife and a beautiful place. Here, the setting sun shines big and bright above the mount of the Bay.
