Claggy lane

Claggy lane

Perspective works well as do tones. I don't use straight black but sometimes add it to a dark mix to give a bit more depth - I agree it tends to "flatten" the darks. You've depicted a very British winter, I'll be please when it's warm again to get painting outdoors, I paint better in natural light!

You have a lovely reflection in the big puddle Robert, great textures. Looks even better when enlarged.

Don't have black and probably won't but a good effect here Robert. Some smashing Northern words I recognise, Claggy, Mucky and lathering.

Excellent depiction of textures and movement, Robert. Super work!

One of my experiments - I used Ivory Black in this one, which I very rarely do and am not at all sure I'd do again. Even so, it does show what the lane looked like recently - muddy, mucky, and wet; and I did enjoy lathering on the highlights on the trunks. 30 by 40 cm, on canvas board.
