They look delicious Val! The greens are just right and the pen work excellent. Look forward to more.

Nice work on both counts Val - growing and painting them!

So simple and so effective Val

Thank you Christine, Debs and Michael. Debs, I might of painted them and eaten them but I can't take the credit for growing them, hubby is the gardener I just enjoy the fruits of his labours :)

Hey, hey....great Val! Will you expand on this, maybe do a pastel or acrylic? Love your pen work and the highlights on the beans. You're very lucky to have a hubby that garden's, mine will sometimes cut the grass, but only because he likes playing on my tractor!!

This is beautifully done Val, perfect representation of broad beans.

Of course I like the beans Val and the background colour caught my eye! I can't work out exactly what colour it is and it's perfect choice to compliment the green beans. The colour runs of the background are good as well, just enough and I know from experience, not easy to achieve. You haven't messed with it, just let the paint dry. I shall have to practice this more!!

Thanks Fiona, Carole and Louise for your lovely comments. Fiona, anything but acrylic we just don't get on at all lol. Louise I'm not a hundred percent sure of the background colour as it was some left over paint in my palette (hate waste). It started off as W&N burnt sienna but I think it got "contaminated" with a little W&N trans yellow :)

On further inspection of my palette, before I give it a good scrub, there could possibly be a little light red in there as well.........:)

This is absolutely gorgeous, Val - delightfully simple and so very appealing. Love the glowing washes.

Well, I think it is a lovely sketch. The pen and wash works for me.

Thank you Seok and Gudrun. I don't do pen and wash very often but as I enjoyed painting this one I might try some more.

Pen and wash. Inspired by Fionas beet and the rest of the fruit and veg that's been appearing on the site recently I did a quick sketch of some broad beans from the garden before steaming them for Sunday dinner. Delicious. Not enough tonal contrast I know but I enjoyed doing this quickly and intend trying some more.
