The background does work well, although from your description it was not what you intended. A very good save. We would not know if you hadn't told us. Great result.

This is just lovely, Val! I love the slightly geometric effect of the water and the sparkle on the duck's breast works so beautifully.

Watercolour mainly. Tried another duck after my last one but made a mess of the background so ended up adding a bit of watercolour pencil and inktense and making it more abstracted. I didn't like it at first but it's slowly growing on me. Had my fill of ducks now for the time being....
