That's excellent, Val. Great alert looking bird, well composed.

Beautiful painting, Val. It all fits together very nicely and those reds are fabulous. I've been using Paynes Grey (oil) recently for my darks/blacks and I like it. I still try to mix my own black but the Paynes comes in handy. Lovely work and so alert! Bri

Thanks Lewis and Brian I appreciate your comments. Brian I usually use W & N ultramarine and burnt sienna for my blacks but last time I ran out of BS I bought a tube of Jacksons to try. It doesn't seem to work the same and I don't like it ( Sorry Jacksons! ) Hence the use of paynes grey which I used for the greens as well.

Oh this is a beauty Val, lovely composition and you can tell the Great tit is itching to get at those gorgeous berries 😀

Ps I love using Payne's grey, it's always one of the first colours I always run out of 😁

Thanks Linda. I'll definitely be using more paynes grey.

Simply delightful Val, love the idea and composition.

Lovely study, Val, super composition

Such a lovely image, Val. I very often use Paynes Grey to make monochrome pen and washes. Love it!

Lovely painting. Well done.

Oh this is wonderful Val, I love the soft background and your little great tit looks super. A beautiful painting.

Thank you for your welcome comments Alan, Pat, Mia, Tony and Margaret they are a lovely boost.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this Val......it’s gorgeous! I use Payne’s grey sometimes in skies, looks great with light red.

Such fine bird art..delightful to view. AlanW

Thanks for your complimentary comment Fiona and for the tip about using paynes grey in the sky. I'll have to give it a go.

Alan W and Gudrun I appreciate you taking the time to leave your lovely comments, thank you.

Watercolour. I've used a lot of paynes grey in this, not a colour I use very often. Not too happy with the leaves and I prefer to paint/ draw birds in coloured pencil but thanks for taking a peek.
