I really like it Val. It's an unusual image which caught my eye so it can't be boring. It doesn't need any detail adding. It works well as it is. Good title here as well!

Always love your clever titles Val and here's another, striking image too! Ps are you going to do the self portrait challenge?

I like the abstract sort of quality of it, Val. I would have put rocks, crabs etc in but I think it looks better as you have done it

Like Louise this caught my eye immediately! It works so well just as it is. Superb.

Looks good just as it is. I can see this done on a block canvas with no frame on a plain wall.

Almost abstract and such an unusual subject - so effective and really works so well.

It works very well. Lovely palette and pattern. It's a subject I've had at the back of my mind.... Can imagine it big and colourful!

It caught my eye too, really effective. Thank you for your comments on my paintings

Thank you everyone for your positive feed back. Armed with Roberts e book and some brand spanking new Rosemary & co oil brushes I think I will turn it into an oil now after all :)

Well, what can I say? Other than that, of course, armed with my e-book how can you possibly go wrong? Seriously, though folks - I think you could do so much with this: it would make a great study in its own right, or (and) would be a wonderful touch in a larger painting: something really big, because you've got strong marks here and they would dominate a small one. This is a case in which I'd say yes, establish those broad, big strokes and impose the design, but don't be dictated to by the loose painting theories - take it as far as you'd like, work on it, break new colours into it, take the strong basic design and play with it for as long as you want to. I can envisage many paintings arising from this one study.

Thanks for the encouragement Robert, just waiting for some canvases and I'll be off and running. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hey Val, just seen your kind comment on my Spaniel pastel pet portrait, thanks very much for that, it's much appreciated

......or maybe just plain "Ripples". I did this as a smalll study for a possible largish oil but not sure if it works. Maybe a bit boring and bland!? Perhaps I should add a crab or two LOL Any thoughts ? Thanks for taking a peek.
