This is lovely, it reminds me of a stained glass window. Poppies are a very popular subject at the moment. I love your gallery, all very distinctive.

Lovely vibrant colour, your stylised flower paintings always stand out on the gallery.

Couldnt agree more about the stained glass. Delicious colours

Excellent; well balanced and super choice of colours

I agree 100% with the above comments, Val. Your whole gallery is sooo colourful and this one is one of my favourites!! Well done!

Ditto all the above Val....it's definately a panel of stained glass and great choice of colours.

I love this style - it's so different.

Gorgeous colour and style. Very 'Tiffany'.

I agree with the others , great style and marvellous colours , what did you use to achieve that texture on the blue or is it the paper surface? whatever it was it 's lovely.

Love it, Val! And you can paint as many versions as you like because I always enjoy looking at your paintings!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments all the better for coming from such talanted artists as yourselves. William, the paper is Saunders Waterford Not 300lb and I use clingfilm on the backgrounds so the results are very random.

stuning i particulary like the bud and the light falling on the stalks.

Great colours and beautiful lines in this. The yellow glow from the left is lovely Val.

Such gorgeous vibrant colours. It is nice to see an artist being brave with colour. Lovely design too, Val. Another gem to add to your 'stained glass' collection.

val love your bold designs ... and bright colours

Lovely blend of colours

Really lovely use of colour Val. I've enjoyed looking through your very diverse gallery of excellent paintings. Thanks for the kind comment on my Staithes painting.

Version two of a poppy in this style, version one was utter rubbish, though I wish I'd shown more of the inside of the poppy in this one. Oh well, version three is always an option I suppose!

About the Artist
Val Kenyon

I am a self taught artist or, as I like to say, I'm "unrestricted by formal teaching" which probably explains my mish mash of styles. I paint in most media, watercolour, gouache, oil, coloured pencil and my favourite, soft pastels. I'm inspired by the Scottish landscape, nature and animals and…
