Pets. For most paintings created based on the subject they usually follow the same study and are somewhat boring as a result because artists haven't looked for something different and play it safe. (No hate mail please - I'm speaking as a pet owner and as an art tutor). When I see a composition like this the painting really holds your attention as you have really looked for something different. Great composition and very well painted.

Wow Thank you so much everyone I'm quite over awed by all your positive comments. This was one of those very rare paintings ( for me anyhow ) that just seemed to go right from beginning to end. Just wish it happened more often :)

I don't usually have a lot to say about animal paintings for the same reasons as Robert except that I'm not a pet owner! I have to comment on this rather remarkable cat though. He is absolutely stunning!

I'm a doggy person, not really a moggy person but this lovely cat with such bright blue eyes lived in the house next to the one we stayed in in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, last August. I've finally got around to painting him/her, I hope I've done those eyes justice. Pastel on colourfix, C & C welcome and thanks for looking :)
