Just thought I would take a look and you pop up! Gorgeous use of pastel I really like your river. It maybe a bleak day but your painting certainly isn't bleak.

Great pastel landscape Val. Nice stones.

The greens and orange colour behind the bridge make this painting interesting. I like the trees and the stones and rocks are painted very well. Thanks for comments to cats portrait.

You asked about this in the forums Poppy? There is something about the rocks behind the bridge that I acnnot define? Love the bridge it's almost 3d! Great pastel work

Thanks Jeannette, Nora, Lorraine and Carole for popping by and commenting. I agree Carole about the rocks behind the bridge, will have another go at them, thanks.

It's me again. Today I put that latest pastel in Minster Library thank you so much for your wonderful comments. David Pilgrim commented on that pastel - I didn't know the name he doesn't come up on POL so I googled him. If I have the right one then he certainly is an excellent artist! Have a look www.davidpilgrimart.co.uk He has Adebanji Alade on his links page. I have visited Adebanji's website before. He looks such a lovely chap and we know he's talented. Jeannette x

Gosh I've missed a lot of yours recently. I love this because it's a place I know so well. The stonework really appeals to me.

This is lovely, Val. I think the colours are great. Many thanks for your comments re 'Autumn Winds'. It is hard to keep up with all the new paintings that are posted, isn't it?

Have holidayed here several times recently and think you have captured the coldness and bleakness of the place, still beautiful though! Have looked at all your gallery and think you are very talented with all mediums, love your dogs and mallards too.

lovely

Pastel painting of Carrbridge near Aviemore, Scotland. 33cm / 22cm. Adapted from, with a little artistic licence, a photo I took one cold December day. Didn't really enjoy this one as I prefer much brighter colours but I was trying to depict the bleak colours of mid winter. It's in pastel 'cos that is the only medium I'll attempt landscapes in!!

About the Artist
Val Kenyon

I am a self taught artist or, as I like to say, I'm "unrestricted by formal teaching" which probably explains my mish mash of styles. I paint in most media, watercolour, gouache, oil, coloured pencil and my favourite, soft pastels. I'm inspired by the Scottish landscape, nature and animals and…
