Nice work Pauline. Beauty from the industrial beast.

What size is this painting, Pauline? If it's as large as I suspect it will look superb in real life. Is that a touch of glare coming from the right hand side? I'm only asking so as to get a better impression of the overall scene. As it stands it's a real eye-catcher, and Jim is spot on about beauty from industry. Are we looking at oil or acrylic? It has the look of oil yet I know you often work with acrylic. The brighter water in the foreground is excellent, and I find myself scanning from the sea to the industrial silhouette and back again in an effort to experience it all. I really like that aspect and how it evokes so many memories for me. That could just be personal preference, of course, but it's worth mentioning. If this was in a critique forum I'd be hard pressed to offer any constructive feedback, save maybe the sky could stand a nudge, but that's being picky. The impression of sea and industry is strikingly good IMHO. Great work! Bri

A great dramatic effect. I like the contrast between the sea and industrial background.

A great painting, there are so many old industrial building that beg to be painted. Looks great painted from the sea.

A striking painting Pauline

Absolutely fabulous - the whole concept is really clever and that stormy sea wonderful.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it. I'm lucky enough to live up the road from South Gare, Redcar , and I am afforded fabulous views of our local steelworks. For how much longer is anyone's guess. Brian, you may need to sit down here. This painting is only 30x30cm. Whaaaaaat!!!!! It is acrylic, and I fully intend to do a larger piece. I'm thrilled you like my water I struggle with water. It's the bane of my life, yet I'm drawn to it. I'm buzzing. I put this into a local exhibition this week and it sold. Whooo! Now that's lovely. It's inspired me to crack on with my larger piece :) Thanks again.
