That rough paper is perfect for the subject John and so is the loose way in which you have painted it. The gulls are the icing on the cake!

The very rough paper is perfect for the subject John. The energy and power of the sea is so vibrant and wonderfully executed, of course you cannot forget the gulls!

Watercolour from my very, very rough paper sketchpad. This is at Lowestoft, notice how the rough tide churns up the sea bed turning it a yellow ochre and umber. It would not seem complete without the gulls.
