This is extremely good and Joan Rhodes had such an amazing face, a gift to portraiture artists!

I'm a great admirer of Laura Knights work, and didn't know this painting. Excellent work John.

I greatly admire Dame Laura, Knight, too. Excellent work as usual, John

Love Laura Knight’s work but haven’t seen this portrait. Such an expressive, strong, portrait John.

Superb painting John 🙂

I hadn’t seen this either, a good portrait John. I remember a blonde who used to tear up phone books….but am I getting confused with “ Yana”?

A superb portrait John, capturing Joan’s femininity beautifully. Very intense and passionate.

Thank you Heather, Lewis, Paul, Thalia, Carole, Stephen, Russell, Spencer, Mary, and Marjorie, your comments are very much appreciated. Yes Marjorie a mix up with however Yana is.

This oil on mixed media paper after a portrait by Laura Knight of Joan Rhodes who featured in variety and on TV, tearing up telephone directories and bending iron bars. The emphasis in the portrait was to express femininity and not her physical strength. The difficulty in copying and artist work is knowing the palette of colours used, also of finding a really good reference file.
