I like this, the trees appear to be dancing Peter. Great Recession and shadows.

How lovely this looks Peter, you have really achieved the flowing of the trees. Superb!

We don't always need accuracy Peter, enthusiasm and imagination will often get us through.

Thankyou Alan for your comments. I have painted a lot from my imagination in the past and will do so again. I have painted and sold imaginative seascapes but my main interest will always be figurative landscape in watercolour. I intend to post as much variety as I can to my gallery. I haven't yet got around to still lifes but will soon be doing some of those too.

Nice work peter

Thankyou very much David.

Wonderful piece Peter, I often think that work like this and from your imagination has more soul.

That's an interesting point Fiona. I think that when we paint from our imagination we have fewer constraints and can therefore express ourselves more freely as we are not representing something, rather we are creating from scratch. I always find painting in this way more enjoyable and I get better results. nevertheless I still end up having to paint real subjects.I think it is probably a good idea to do both, after all, why not. Art after all is an emotion, it is not a physical thing. It is the feeling that we get from looking at a painting and not the painting itself.

Very interesting and mysterious painting, it's lovely

Thankyou very much Lyn.

Watercolour 16'' x 12''. A stylized painting from the imagination. It is a depiction of a man walking his dog in a forest of yew trees. It is not intended to be an accurate representation of yew trees but my goal was to capture the curving, flowing feel of their branches and achieve an overall pleasing design in the process.
