When I first started painting I really disliked pastels; the whole process seemed extremely messy and I always managed to get covered in it. But having gained a little experience I'm now a convert and find the experience of working with pastel exciting, technical and challenging. I'm currently producing a series of images of the area around Edale in Derbyshire. I've completed 3 pastel works so far but may go back to watercolour for the others I'm planning. I'm trying to become more abstract than representational - not that easy really, but the colours and application of pastels is helping.
