Wow, this is great. Perhaps not exactly as you intended, but its a super composition, all the horizontals, verticals and diagonals balance out nicely. Love the chimneypots, and the willowy tree is a good foil to all the hard surfaces.

Thanks Sharon; I saw the scene as a photograph with a view to making a painting from the image - this seems to be the way I work on most occasions but I'd really like to work en plein air and from life (figurative) but haven't quite got the bottle yet ...

This is another attempt at the ink and gouache replacement technique; I've discovered that it's a bit hit-and-miss so the end result is not quite how I'd envisioned it. However, it's a method I find interesting and something I'll return to.
