Finished this afternoon and something of an experiment encouraged by the article in December's issue of "The Artist" by Ian Sidaway, in which he describes a replacement technique using gouache, ink and finally watercolour. I think that perhaps I tried for too much detail in too small a frame (the painting is only 20x20cm) but it was good fun trying out the method, and I'm not too disappointed with the result.
