I completed this piece following attendance at a course run by June Duddleston at the RBSA. Apart from the acrylic underpainting, all of this image was done with a pallet knife. The under painting employed purely complementary colours to those of the intended image; this method, along with the use of the knife, was a new experience for me - a little confusing at first but very effective in giving a slight zing to the finished product.
