Lovely sea, well painted Paul and what a great story. Thanks for your comment on the 'coat of arms' on embroidery, they are very fiddly to copy accurately as you obviously know. A very happy new year to you. Carole.

What a beautiful image Paul the water is lovely...because I live in Oz it's late here but I will be back tomorrow night to look through the rest of your portfolio

A watercolour of a statue of 'Wairaka' (Lady on the Rock), at Whakatane habour entrance, in New Zealand. This is what the statue represents; The name " Whakatane" ("Wh" is pronounced "F"), commemorates an incident occurring after the arrival of the Maori canoe "Mataatua" . Wairaka, a chieftainess, said "Kia Whakatane au i ahaua" (I will make myself a man), and commenced to paddle the canoe, which women were not allowed to do, and with the help of the other women saved the canoe.
