This is a large oil painting 76 x 100cm, on canvas. It's the third painting of 4 of the same scene, treated in a similar manner, though slightly different in size, composition or tone. I've just glazed it with a touch of alizarin crimson to add a pink glow to a cold day. The first painting was duller, possibly a bit more atmospheric. This still took a long time to paint even though I've painted the same scene before. It's surprising how many people say "I've walked on that beach many times" - it leads from Bridlington to Sewerby and is popular with tourists and locals, though often deserted in winter.
