Some size but well worth the wait and discomfort Pat

Gosh, that is big Pat. It's a lovely painting and must make a great impact. Love the shadows at the bottom of the house and the view through the arch. May have a little problem with the perspective on the side where the brickwork is, next to the arch, but hey, who cares because it is lovely!

Next time you paint it i will wave as i drive by to York...

Superb work, Pat! I love that delightful period feel of the piece. Lovely palette and composition too.

Lovely Pat a real beauty

Oil painting on a very large canvas 120cm x 140 cm - I have to paint in the garden, propped canvas against a wall. Almost finished but it's been a marathon waiting for dry, warm weather. It just needs a bit of attention here and there - all comments welcome. Not sure that I'll ever paint this big again, angles etc can be difficult (I'm not great with perspective). The 3 old black and white photos that I used to guide me were very hazy in parts and taken from different points, so a bit of guess work here and there with colours and details. My next upload will be a painting no bigger than 30cm square!!It's good to do something different - this was mostly enjoyable and a challenge.
