Paul Talbot-Greaves Challenge Two - July 2017
Frank Bingley sent in his version of Paul's second challenge saying: 'I have always been in awe of Paul's work - the way he can make a beautiful painting our of a seemingly plain subject amazes me. After studying his article and making mental notes of the technique, I set to work on an A3 sheet of Bockingford. The subject looked simple enough, but getting it down on paper in the manner suggested was quite a challenge for me, especially as I am rubbish at landscapes! The initial drawing took less than five minuets, quickly followed by the undercolour washes, and it started to get a bit exciting when adding the dark areas. I feel that I did manage to get a few hard edges and plenty of soft/lost edges, but for me, this painting didn't turn out that well.'
