January Challenge
Janet Scott sent in her version of Paul's January challenge, which is 42 x 29cm, saying: 'I worked on Canson 'Moulin du Roy' 300 g/ m2 watercolour paper. First I lightly sketched in the main areas with pencil and then applied a variegated wash, predominantly of cobalt blue. Then, using thicker paint and a mix of cobalt, light red, yellow ochre and purple, I painted in the rocks and posts. Then I darkened the sky with more cobalt and added midnight green to the mix for the trees. The shadows on the snow are largely cobalt blue. Finally I added a light wash of yellow and pink mix to the snow,
