I like this, love the contrast in the textures, and the tree's are really good, and the brickwork of the church and wall is really good

Hi Andrew, I agree with Ros but my only critic is the lack of shadow on the front face of the church. If you paint the buttresses in shadow, then this would be carried over to the front face.you would also see the shadow on the white fence post. This could be remedied by a wash of cobolt blue over those areas. I have a few similar pictures on my site that show this application of what I mean, have a look. Regards Peter.

Even in a wonderful painting there is always room for improvement. I should like to invite Peter to take a look at some of mine and post his advice.

Hi again Andrew, just seen your very kind comment on my climbing boots oil painting, thanks very much for taking a look and commenting, I keep telling everyone who kindly left comments on that painting one of these days I will get back to oils, but I only came back to art about a year ago after a 20 plus years lay off and after discovering this website I got into pastels hence my pet portraits I have done a few of recently, and basically they are so much easier to work than oils, or any kind of painting when it comes to it, with pastels they can just be picked up and I'm straight into the job whereas with painting, especially oils, there is so much preparing and clearing away afterwards, and with paints you can't just put them down for half an hour if something else crops up and then go back and pick up where you left off, so I guess what I am saying is that it is a life gets in the way kind of situation with painting! Anyway I seem to have gone off on one a bit here, sorry about that, thanks again for your very kind comment on 'boots' bye for now!
