It’s beautiful Denise , the colours are really nice, thanks for reposting it .

I think the varnish has definitely enhanced it -the swirls and movement in the draping fabric are fantastic Denise.

An exceptional piece indeed, and worthy of reposting -

Outstanding artwork.

It's a great piece Denise. How big is it?

I am sure you learnt a lot from this exercise Denise. Very well done.

Many thanks Paul, Hilary,Gudrun, Alan, Stephen, Russell and John. Russel I can't quite remember the exact size but a recent oil painting I did was A2. This is the same width but slightly smaller in height. John I did learn much from this and it led me to other techniques such as Verdaccio, classical drawing. I maintain using these techniques.

That is stunning, Denise!

A superb painting Denise. You should be really proud of it and great to see it again.

Glad you reposted Denise as I didn’t see the original one. A big challenge very well met. You should be+very proud of this beautiful painting Denise.

An excellent study Denise. This week I went to see the film about Caravaggio. It was excellent. Go and see it if it’s near you.

Beautiful, well worth reposting.

Definitely worth a re-visit and the colours with glazes and varnish have really helped bring everything alive

You might remember my study of Caravaggio's St Matthew and the Angel I painted using the glazing technique. Today, I brushed off the dust and finally got around to putting a coat of gamvar varnish on it. I think the varnish has enhanced the colour so thought it was worth a repost. Oil.
