A very nice sketch Denise, despite the distraction.

Really good Denise.

That’s it unusual as I recall Denise, particularly in a warm room! This is a really decent effort I must say, you’re progressing nicely, slowly and methodically is the best way!

Onwards and upwards Denise another face captured so well.

How do you feel you’re doing Denise? Are you finding it easier as the weeks progress? This is a confident sketch.

Well, it doesn't show Denise, a good, strong portrait

Your life sketching is excellent Denise.

You have managed to have strong value shapes whilst keeping the roundness of form. The sharp highlight on the cheekbone on the left, the soft jaw below and the crease of the cheek is exceptional. Add in your addition of lines, and it makes this a great piece for me to learn from. You should be really pleased with it.

Much appreciated, thanks very much Paul, Stephen, Alan, Chris, Marjorie, Heather, Lewis and Owen. Marjorie, I feel I am doing alright. I get a good likeness every time but I think it's more about getting the experience with the live models and refining techniques. Owen, I just used the putty rubber to bring out the charcoal for the highlights. Some are a bit sharp but they are easily softened. The putty rubber is an excellent tool for drawing.

Excellent work Denise, shame she looks so miserable!

Thanks Russell and Frank. Yes Frank, that's how she looked. Maybe it was the boredom of sitting for two hours.

You have become very accomplished at these charcoal portrait sketches Denise. This is excellent.

Last night at the sketching club. I think the model kept closing her eyes for long periods, I found it a bit off putting. Charcoal.
