Must admit I wasn’t really aware of this technique. It gives a striking result. If you’ve taken photos at different stages, you should put a piece on the forum Denise.

That works very well, Denise,

Beautifully done Denise it was interesting watching it develop on the forum .

Oops sounds like you already have!

Thanks Tessa, David and Paul. Tessa, I only put something briefly on the sketching forum. I plan to do an oil painting using this technique, so when I do, I will put it up as a WIP.

A gorgeous portrait Denise, and following the Verdaccio style must be quite interesting, good alignment too, shows that these painting techniques serve us well for trying out the various stages in pigment blending! Well done!

Really interesting seeing the progress on the forum Denise. It’s worked out really well- great portrait.

You never stand still with your art work Denise. I love all the surprises you give.

How interesting and the end result is lovely

Really accomplished portrait. I saw the earlier stage on the forum and I'm impressed with the finished piece.

Thanks very much for your comments, much appreciated, Angela, Christine, Chris, John, Coral, Heather and Andrew.

This isn’t a widely used technique, and one that I haven’t used myself. Interesting and well done for giving it a try Denise, a good job done here!

Lovely pastel work Denise.

Nice flesh colours Denise.

This is so accomplished Denise. Must look up the Verdaccio technique. It has certainly helped to produce a wonderful portrait.

Thanks for your kind comments which are always greatly appreciated Alan, George, Martin, Marjorie and Carole. I am often in disbelief to hear such techniques are not widely used, it comes as a surprise Alan. This is a technique I'll continue to use. I hope by showing it, others will try it out too.

I’m really impressed!

Last night while watching TV, I thought I would practice the Verdaccio technique. I spent an hour this afternoon putting the green tones in between painting something else. I've just finished it off now with the flesh tones.I didn't pay too much attention to the portrait as I'm more interested in learning about the technique. It is a pastel sketch.
