I love moody skies . and this is one hell of a moody one. Awesome Martin. I love it. I hope you sell it for a fortune.

The sky and the light are amazing. Did you do this outside. from a photo or imagination? In your next painting you call it "Dutch style". I can see that your paintings have a look of old masters but what exactly does dutch style mean?

The light is amazing...fantastic sky...well done.

Brilliant sky it reminds me of a looming giant bird hovering over the landscape!

Thanks for your kind comments. Judith, all of my 40 inch oils are painted in the studio, my plein air work is limited to 9x11 inch panels, although I usually use these as a basis for the large oils. A 'Dutch' picture follows the stylistic guidelines one wouls see in a Ruisdael, Cuyp or Hobbema etc - essentially a cool limited palette used for a tonal rather than colourist approach. Regards MK

bri;;iant painting.

simply masterful

A gallery of beautiful paintings. This is my favourite.

Classic , love it

Martin, This is as moody as it gets. I love painting on a big canvas, but I just don't have the wall space to display them. For sure I couldn't go that big on MDF. It would be so heavy the hooks would pull out of the wall! Great effect of light and mood. Like it. John
