Holkham Pines

It really pays to look 'properly' at this painting: i.e. to take your time over it - if you do, it draws you in - the pale tones actually seem to strengthen and take shape the more you look at them, and there's a real sense of perspective. I found it interesting to concentrate the gaze on one spot for some seconds - the trees then seem to consolidate around you.

I really love this painting, i think you have captured the cathederal like stillness and grandeure of the pine woods in Norfolk. I think there is something enigmatic and spiritual about this one
