Thank you all for your kind words. Helen - I did several of these in one go and tried different angles and poses in the way they are drawn to ring the changes but I do agree it would have been better if the child was looking up at the mother.

Congratulations Michael, a new baby - what a blessing. I really admire your drawing. Tried something similar on the birth of my first granddaughter, but then in watercolour, and it was not nearly as effective as this pared down style. It is so difficult to get the features right in order to express the bond between mother and child, and with one beautiful curve you have achieved it exactly.
