Great job Michael I like it a lot

Delightful painting, Michael - so fresh and sunny and the stonework of the church is beautifully painted.

Lovely painting classic watercolour. Great idea a poem I have often thought of doing it but never got around to it .

Thanks all - I was taken by the simplicity of the scene whilst standing there early in the morning with soaking wet shoes in the wet dewy grass. I did want to paint it from the other side but couldn't get a view thanks to the foliage - I did do one one from the other side which I posted last year but that was whilst the trees were bare - anyway glad I settled for this view.

It's a gorgeous view and the light in this painting is incredible Michael! Beautiful work and I'm so happy that you are with us again.

Thank you so much Satu for such a kind comment.

A very beautiful and peaceful scene Michael, love the light and shadows.

Lovely clarity with fresh clear washes Michael. I also like the composition and the tones.

Lovely. delicate watercolour, Michael. Beautiful tones on the church and trees. I know the scene well, my daughter got married here many years ago and the weather was gorgeous. I think I cried as she came out of church, it was such a lovely setting.

Lovely work Michael.

Smashing technique with the medium Michael, but is the roof flat?

Sorry, just googled it and it is very shallow.

Lovely mix of washes Michael and that cleaness in your watercolours really shines.

As others have said, lovely clean washes make this one for me.

Missed your village scenes Michael and this was worth waiting for. Super work.

So many to thank - just to let you all know how much I appreciate all your kind comments.

Very lovely scene, lovely use of watercolour!

Crystal clear colour and a beautiful scene Michael. I like the lime green tree against the dark one, also the subtle colours in the church.

Love the sunny feel of this piece, and the tranquil atmosphere. Lovely piece, Michael!

Such a peaceful scene, Michael. Gorgeous colours. The trees are beautiful, and your shaddows show off the beautiful day. What more can I say - well, actually, the sky is great too!

Here's the poem at last - I am no great poet but do enjoy playing with words - anyway hope you like it.

In far oblivion stars consumed
by early morning breaking light
as shafts of sun reach down to kiss
eidetic images unfolding,
mired in green the scene embedded.

And slowly as nights veil uplifted,
cold crisp air delivers dew
on swords of grass, and stones
in algae, moss, and lichen covered,
names declared, but lives forgotten.

Livestock, birdsong, rustling grasses,
scores discordant harmonising,
natures voices orchestrated,
heralding the proud church standing
clothed serene in honeyed hues.
