Durham - quick sketch

Durham - quick sketch
Comments

Nice lively sketch Michael, these sort of quick ones bring back memories don't they?

Love all the ink marks and freshness. I see the scholar with his coat flapping in the wind on the his bike! nice action and effect!

Drawing with a twig makes lovely uneven marks as you have shown here Michael. Sunny start for the day even if the scholar seems to be in a hurry. Great sketch!

Thanks all - it's nice to just plough in with the stick and see what happens.

Full of movement Michael, always happens in 'quick' sketches.

Very nice quick sketch, Michael, well done.

Never used a twig but probably will if it creates lovely pieces as this

Great improvisation...a twig? Terrific sketch, full of life and movement. Find it hard enough with a brush, try and get used to that before I move on to twigs. Great stuff Michael.

Thanks for all your kind comments. yes I do like using a twig - just chamfer it off at the end and remove a git of the soft centre to help it retain some of the ink. You can even use a bit of garden cane. what I like is that you don't have complete control - it blobs and scratches which is what makes so interesting.

Great twiggy sketch Michael!

A great little sketch Michael.
