Very lovely sunlit painting. I particularly like your treatment of the church windows.

Beautiful colour, especially on the shaded wall of the foreground cottage. Great sky too.

Certainly do like it Michael! I agree with Thea regarding the church windows, very effective. I also love the warm plummy colour in the house shadow and the left hand hedge.

Agree with the other comments, I also think the sunlit tree to the right of the church adds to the feeling of light.

too precise & boring - sorry

James may be entitled to his opinion but it certainly is not mine. This is a very well constructed watercolour and it reflects the beauty of the English village scenery very well.

Thanks for your comments. James I have to agree with you to some extent but it was painted with a particular market in mind and this is what appeals. Really must get back to painting looser work for my own benefit and not for others.

I like the billowy clouds, Michael. To some extent I too see where James is coming from, though I quite like its old-fashioned-ness (brain not in gear, is that a word?!), but I also think that maybe if it had a figure with a dog, for example, it might add more interest?

Can't agree with James but agree with Caroline and I have to say I always love the cleanness and freshness of your watercolours.

Thanks Caroline. The picture on screen is not a good reproduction for some reason or other. On the screen the trees in the background left look quite blue and a bit out of kilter with the rest of the composition but this is not quite so evident in the original.

Man and dog is a bit of a cliche - how about a mum and a pram?

It's lovely Michael. Like Val, I'm always envious of your bright, clean washes.

It's only a couple of minutes from my front door and thought I had painted this church to death (don't do interiors like Rupert) and then realised I hadn't done it from this angle so here it is. Hope you like it
