Thanks Jim and Tessa - the gate looks a bit suspect but I can live with that - I've found these little sketches work well in white mounts (at last 2.5ins wide) and black frames displayed in sets of 2 or 4.

I do love viewing charcoal sketches, I love sketching with charcoal also, a much forgotten medium. I suppose it's the simplicity of the whole thing, no colour to distract the eye. Excellent little sketch Michael, the paper has come out a blue shade on my screen, but I suspect its been drawn on white.

Thanks Carole, Mia, Alan, and Marjorie. Yes it was done on white but try as I might I couldn't do away with the blue background without compromising the integrity of the sketch itself. I do like using the water brush in conjunction with charcoal - you get some great effects.

Thanks Sandra, Linda and Margaret. It is surprising the detail you can get with a charcoal pencil especially when going into the areas which are still wet after using the water brush.
