Beautiful image, the writing is wonderful. We called this Copperplate writing. You don't see it much now, a great pity.

Thank you very much, Carole. I pass your lovely comment to Harrie. Did you have a look at his website? If you like, you can post a comment on the "gastenboek". He would appreciate that, even in English.

A lovely image, your free watercolour and Harries' rich, cursive calligraphy work beautifully together.

Thank you Robert. Next week we are going over to Genk (where my daughter and Harrie live) and I will tell him about all the positive comments on "our" work. He knows about the POL, but I don't know if he is watching it very often.

beautiful mia, i realy envy your talent in calligraphy . thankyou for your comments in my gallery.

Thank you Shelley for your comment, but I only did the drawing (pen and watercolour) and my youngest daughter's neighbour (who is a calligraphy teacher) did the calligraphy. It seems to be very unusual, two artists working on the same paper but our ideas about art are so similar that it works very well. We are both pleased with the final result. I make the drawing first on the watercolour paper and after that, he adds a calligraphic text next or around it.

Beautiful delicate execution. I like all except the rainbow. Personally I don't go for the sentiment in the writing, but all the rest are surly good enough to be used to illustrate books? I studied calligraphy at art school but have never tried to write on watercolour paper. I imagine it's quite difficult

Thank you very much, Andy, for taking the time to comment on "our" collaboration-work. Because we are both retired, we do not have the ambition anymore to start a new career in book illustration. We now and then display our work in shop-windows, offices and tearooms and had already several exhibitions, with positive results. Works hanging in the "Hop-museum" in Poperinge and the Town Hall in Blankenberge (both bought by the City Councils). So we are rather pleased with the "success". About the watercolour paper: because I first make the drawing and painting in watercolour, I use my usual paper (not too rough - cold pressed) and then give a supplementary sheet to Harrie, to practise on. He can then decide which pen, wooden stick, ink,... he can use on it.

A combination of my pen and wash and calligraphy by Harrie Voet, made for our exhibition in Poperinge, the only area of the hop cultivation in Belgium. This painting was used as poster and flyer to promote the exhibition. More info: Harrie's website: "www.kalosgrafein.be" - galerie VI - kalligrafie in aquarellen and my blog "Mia".
