Lovely flower study Mia

I agree with the above comments a lovely flower study. As to the English. perhaps ' no interuption to their studies', or not having to catch up with their school work. i am sure there is a correct school word for this which no doubt some kind soul will let you know, hope this has helped Mia but your English is perfect without any help from me.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Mia! Love the juxtaposition of the various types and shapes of flowers - it creates the tension that holds the eye.

A really nice piece of flower study drawing Mia, like this one very much.

1967? How nice that you've kept this intricate drawing. Are you like me? I look back at older pieces of mine and think to myself. 'did I really do that'? (lol) Could you draw like this today? It's the eyesight that's my problem! This is a beautiful well observed drawing which must have taken some time to complete and I love it !

Beautifully observed Mia, such amazing treatment of detail.

Such intricate detail, a beautiful piece of work Mia.

Thank you all very, very much for your nice comments, you are all so very kind. Glennis, thanks for the compliment on my English (never learned it at school, only by watching the BBC, painting DVD's, reading English painting-books and becoming good friends with an English couple) . And yes, Louise, you are right: looking at those "old" works I think the same: "how did I manage to do this and is my actual work of the same standard". At a younger age I suppose, we didn't think so much about it, just got the pen and paint and started. Now we (I certainly do) look at the white paper and are more concerned about the result!

Love detailed work like this Mia, and congrats on your English, it's perfect!

Its lovely that you still have these lovely works Mia. A really nice little picture.

Thanks Debs for your lovely compliment on my work and my English. Denise, I am so happy that I kept some of my earlier works. Probably because I liked them myself. Since I started painting and drawing again, after more than 25 years without holding a pen or a brush, it is only on rare occasions that I bin a work.

So detailed Mia. Beautiful.

Beautifully drawn. i think that when we were younger we trusted our instinct more , whereas , I now feel bombarded with different ways to paint this and that! I've had to put my painting books, CD's and magazines away as they give me headaches :)

Thank you Carole and Sarah. Yes, Sarah, it was the time of our life when everything was simple and uncomplicated. Just had to think about our studies and have fun painting to impress the teachers (LOL). We (my husband and myself) always told our daughters the years at college and university were the 'most comfortable' time of their lifes. They didn't believe us. But now, having a family and all the stress about children and jobs....

This is a nib pen and Indian ink drawing I made in 1967. That was the time I was an Art Teacher at the "Zeepreventorium" in De Haan, where children (between 3 and 18 years old) with astma, muco, etc... stayed for treatment on the healthy sea-coast. There was a school (primary and college) for them, so when they got better, they were able to return to their former school and continue their studies without any arrear (is that the correct word?).
