What a lovely chap, full of character and that look in his eyes.... how could one not give this beautiful dog a home :)

The garage I go to has a dog called Diesel. This little chap is beautiful. This for me me is one of your best and I don't even know why.

Thank you Dawn. I wasn't sure about it when I'd finished as I struggled using the palette knife on a dog with such little fur and strong features.

Gorgeous oil portrait of this super dog Sarah, what a sad sad story, all too familiar unfortunately as rescue and rehoming centres keep trying to tell people, Staffie type dogs are not what people expect them to be so often, we have some friends who got one as a very sweet puppy and socialised it as it grew up as much as anyone could do, but now it cannot be taken to anywhere that has other dogs running free without it trying to provoke a fight with the other dogs, they will never let it go to rescue and fortunately don't have young children as there is no way of knowing how it would react to youngsters, when the dog was young they were convinced it wiuld mature into a normally behaved dog, but obviously it has not done, anyway well done with this super dog portrait Sarah

Beautiful dog very well executed! I hope he has a good home too!!

You've completely caught the character of these dogs; Ros is right that they can be a problem, I believe, but I've met a few that were just wonderful - but needed a firm hand. This is all painting-knife work?

The really tricky bits like the eyes, part of the nose were done with a brush. The collar was also done with a brush as I didn't want it to have that angular rigid look.

Beautiful painting and dog

I do hope Diesel has found a home - poor chap. Like all dogs, they respond to the right treatment and right handling. The world is a very alien and scary place to a dog and it takes time and patience to show them that they have nothing to be afraid of. Sadly, in some homes, some dogs have plenty to be afraid of and then they get the blame if they try to defend themselves. I think you have portrayed Diesel's anxiety really well and your portrait tugs at the heartstrings.

You have captured Diesel beautifully, wonderful painting, breaks my heart though to see lonely and abandoned dogs I could never go to a rescue centre as I would want to take them all home.

Sarah you are a great artist, bringing something wonderful into the world of these abandoned animals. I also foster animals in Spain and i am well aware of the suffering that goes on behind the scenes. We cannot do enough to promote the glory of these lovely creatures. So keep up the good work.

This is Diesel. When I took his photo he was still at the rescue centre looking for a forever home. He was such a lively chap I tried to get some of that energy in the painting. Hopefully now he has found a home.
