I'm not surprised this was selected for exhibition, Maureen. The portrayal of water drops on the shower screen is very impressive not to mention the portrait too!

I like this alot. Certainly a different take on portraiture.

Many thanks, Jane and Linda for your comments. For me, painting is more often than not a real struggle, fretting about stuff like composition, lighting and colour but for some unknown reason (probably because I didn't feel under any pressure to finish), it just seemed to work from the start. I certainly wish this happened more frequently! As far as getting this painting selected is concerned, I was thrilled to say the least.

Selected for the 'Ruth Borchard' Self-Portrait Competition and Exhibition which showed at King's Place Gallery, London last year. This took my painting in a slightly new direction. I've depicted water condensing down bus windows, reflections in harbours, seascapes etc. but I rarely knuckle down and 'do' portraiture, particularly a self-portrait behind a shower screen!
