I'm a picture of pleasing decay too, perhaps that's why I'm drawn to this..... A nicely untidy painting; like the lean in the ruined building.

I'm still chuckling at your comment Robert! I suppose we are all in varying states of 'pleasing decay'. I can do 'untidy' well as it suits my rapid style - none of these mixed media pieces has taken longer than 30 minutes to produce. Thanks for looking!

I also like ruines and places of 'pleasing decay' and I am glad to reed that I am not the only one (and.. I am older than Robert!!!). I like the freshness of your working on the spot. There is a lot of spontaneity in this way of working and often that is lost in studio-work.

This ruined, fortified hunting lodge is situated about 3 miles north of Bolton Abbey and dates from the 15th century. The 'front' of the ruin has been tidied up, with the grass cut neatly and information boards, but if you walk round the back it is overgrown and is a picture of 'pleasing decay'. Painted on the spot in mixed media. 14.5" x 10.5"
